Ventilation Tube Insertion
Ventilation tube insertion is a quick procedure performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient for children or can be performed under local anesthesia in our office for adults. Small tubes are placed in the eardrum to equalize the pressure and/or remove the fluid from the middle ear. It is recommended to control recurrent acute and chronic ear infections as well as Eustachian tube dysfunction.
Tympanoplasty is a surgical procedure used to repair holes or perforations in the eardrum (tympanic membrane). A graft of tissue, obtained from the skin area behind the ear, is placed on the eardrum to act as a seal or patch over the perforation re-sealing the eardrum and the middle ear.
